
The prosthodontist will collect detail and important information of study models mounted in an articulator, wax diagnostics, periapical and panoramic X-rays, intra and extra oral photos and a detail clinic exam.
Oral rehabilitation treatments require medical and x-ray checkups with a dentist at least once a year and specialized cleanings at least every 6 months. This control is necessary to evaluate an adequate functioning and to verify that the patient keeps good hygiene control at home.
The success of a complete oral rehabilitation treatment relies on checkups with a specialist, attending programmed control appointments, and good patient oral hygiene at home, besides following all the recommendations specified by the specialist in each case.
Changes carried out in the dental structure are not reversible. For example, the dental pieces which have a crown or bridge were worn down and reduced in size to host the structure therefore the dental attrition or occlusal wear of a tooth is not reversible.
In certain cases as a result of the dental attrition or occlusal wear it could be necessary to carry out a root canal, place a tooth post or lengthen a crown.
